The New Sanxingdui Museum Ranking One of the Top-10 Buildings with ArchDaily China Architecture Awards 2024

According to the Sanxingdui Museum, the new Sanxingdui Museum has been selected as one of the Top-10 Buildings in the ArchDaily China Architecture Awards 2024.

Designed by Southwest China Institute of Architecture Design with a focus on the re-arrangement of the functions and flow lines, the new Sanxingdui Museum has re-planned a counterclockwise visit route starting from the new entrance square, connecting the new hall, no. 2 old hall, the altar, the cultural protection center and no. 1 hall, so that the park can be re-integrated into a whole part. The previous visitor center and the parking lot at the former gate are renovated, and a series of upgrading projects such as visitor toilets, underground pipelines and flood prevention canals are launched, establishing a good foundation for the future operation of the museum.

The construction of new Sanxingdui Museum was commenced at the end of March 2022 and officially put into service in July 2023. Resembling the "eye of Ancient Shu" that rises slowly from the earth and looks toward the Sanxingdui ruins, such an architectural shape is construed as guarding and telling the mysterious and splendid Sanxingdui civilizations. The landscape architecture has been integrated with spiraling indoor circular ramp, expressing the spiritual world of the ancient Shu kingdom about heaven, earth, mankind and God. In 2023, the new Sanxingdui Museum was selected into the List of Global Architecture Masterpieces 2023.
